hudson is our musical child. so it was no surprise when he asked me this morning to turn the radio on so we could listen to christmas songs.
our favorite christian radio station, KSBJ, is playing ALL christmas music through the holidays.
so the song that comes on is singing about JESUS in a manger...
and hudson says, 'MOM, THIS ISN'T A CHRISTMAS SONG, IT'S A JESUS SONG.'
i take this opportunity to (again) explain that the reason we celebrate christmas is because it's JESUS' birthday.
he says, 'WELL, ARE WE GOING TO HAVE CAKE?'
i say, 'SURE, WE CAN MAKE A CAKE.' (thinking this will be fun).
he says (with some fear and trepidation in his voice), 'BUT ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO GO UP TO HEAVEN TO GIVE IT TO HIM?'
i told him that since Jesus is in our hearts, when we eat the cake, he gets it too.
JESUS, I HOPE YOU ENJOYED ALL THE M&M's I ATE YESTERDAY. lol.

I is for I AM...
i am wendy.
i am wife to bobby. i am mom to four crazy kids. i am in love with bobby. i am in love with my four crazy kids. i am in love with GOD...i am amazed at his mercies in my life.
i am thankful. i am grateful for all he has brought me through. i am in awe at all he has brought our family through.
i am hopeful. i am believing that the promise he made to finish the good work he started in me is TRUE and will happen.
i am human. i blow it daily. but i am forgiven.
i am joyful. i am happy to be alive and well. to have weathered this journey called life.
i am hungry. i am craving something chocolate and there is NONE in my house.
oh wait! i am wrong! i forgot about carson's birthday cake. woohooooooo!
i am turning grey. you would NOT believe the amount of grey that has decided to reside on my head.
i am back to the size i was when i got married 16 years ago. i am thrilled but i am acknowledging that somehow it all LOOKS different after four children have wreaked havoc on my abs LOL
i am silly. i am one who loves to laugh. i am one who loves to make others laugh.
i am also intense. i am hard to figure out.
i am santa. (shhhhh...good thing the little guys don't know how to read yet...please keep my secret, okay?)
i am friend. i am scatterbrained. i am a scatterbrained friend. i am loved despite this.
i am loving life.
i am loving watching my husband's dreams come true.
i am loving watching my children grow & learn to love Jesus (yeah, yeah...i know....one swore in church...but isn't it a testament to his place of safety in a home where he had NO CLUE that it was a bad word? i am choosing to look at it this way LOLOL).
i am acclimated to the crazy texas weather. i am cold now when it hits 60. i am SERIOUS. i am now a big fat freeze baby. i am embarassed to admit this.
i am off to have some birthday cake and then i am off to bed.

H is ALSO for...
HYDRATE HOPE
bobby and i had the privilege of going to an event last night @ market street in the woodlands. it was an event put on by a friend of ours that began a project called HYDRATE HOPE.
here's a blurb from their website:
Hydrate Hope is a movement that began out of asking the question, “with so many needs in the world, where can we begin to make a difference”. Our answer…start with the biggest. With water being the #1 killer in the world, our passion is to engage this preventable global atrocity head on.
Over 1.1 Billion people in our world have no access to clean water.
That's basically 1 out of every 6 people on our planet.
More than 2 million people, mostly children, die each year from preventable waterborne illnesses.
check the website out to learn more:
http://www.hydratehope.org
it was an amazing contrast...
huge banners and photos of women & children in africa, drinking from filthy mudholes...
meanwhile, surrounded by an enormous, glittery christmas tree with pricey shops, boutiques and restaurants...people strolling by, arms loaded with packages to put under their trees.

we first went to africa in 2000. there's no doubt at all that we'll be returning.
H is for HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARSON!
happy birthday to you,
happy birthday to you,
happy birthday deeeeeeeeeeear carson,
happy birthday to you!
life would NOT be the same without carson.
he keeps us laughing.
he keeps us refereeing.
he keeps us praying.
those who know me know i have a zero tolerance policy in my home for naughty words. the big kids have, unfortunately, grown wise to the fact that the 'S' word isn't actually stupid or shut-up.
but carson is still rather naive.
so the other night at basketball evaluations for a church rec league, he's awaiting his turn to do timed drills. he turns to me quite proudly and says,
'mom, when it's my turn i'm going to go out there and kick some a$$.'
oh my gosh. i'm still giggling about it. of course, i kept a straight face at the time & we had a little chat...the public school playground is most likely the culprit here...we'll have to stay on our toes LOL.
we're having birthday festivities after school today, so more pics later :)

G is for GOOFY
we had an impromptu photo shoot by the christmas tree. as you can see, they're certainly not in their christmas finery & their hair is not done, etc.
but i believe i've captured the true spirit of my children and i'm more than a little frightened LOL
and so, here it is...
G is for GOOFY!

oh, and don't ask what's going on with hudson's shirt...he's um...a little...um...exposed. i think he's actually got on one of carson's polo shirts? but i can't say for sure. consider yourself flashed.
